Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
Adult Jiu Jitsu
Jiu Jitsu is a great sport to learn no matter how old you are or what you do for a living. Our adult students range in age from early 20s up to early 60s as even older students can benefit greatly from the exercise and self-mastery that Brazilian Jiu jitsu has to offer. What’s more, students of all ages have won medals in their respective divisions.
Our adult Jiu jitsu classes are available every day from Monday to Saturday, and we have an open mat on Sundays. Private sessions are also available six days a week and you can schedule individual classes at any time a group class is not in session.
Jiu Jitsu places an emphasis on grappling and tackling. You will start by learning the mechanics of balance and weight control so you can use your physique to tackle opponents of all shapes and sizes. Typical moves you can expect to learn and perfect in our classes include the arm bar, kimura, leg lock and different types of chokes.
Our classes are tailored to meet the needs and experience level of our students. Our trainers will help you improve your skill no matter how much or how little Jiu jitsu you have learned. There is more than one trainer per class to ensure that you receive the personalized attention you need to improve your skills, learn new moves and meet your fitness goals.
Women’s Only Jiu Jitsu
While all our adult classes are coed, we understand that women have unique needs that are best met in a women’s only environment. Busy, single career women, harried moms and aging grandmas enjoy our weekly women’s only Jiu jitsu class. This class is a great place to let your hair down, meet new friends, develop a new physical skill and get good exercise in a short period of time.
The women’s only Jiu jitsu class is open every Saturday morning from 9:00 am to 9:55 am. Stephanie Moon is the coach for this class. She has been involved with martial arts since 1996 and has black belts in Japanese Jiu Jitsu and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, as well as a Shotokan Karate brown belt.
The women’s only Jiu Jitsu class is particularly recommended for women who are learning a martial art for the first time. We understand that many women need a safe area where they can learn martial arts in a warm, encouraging environment.
We also welcome women who want to learn self-defense skills or regain their confidence after an assault. Unfortunately, up to 25% of all women will become victims of assault in their lifetime. What’s more, in about 50% of all assault cases the assailant is someone the woman knows. Jiu Jitsu classes can give you the skills you need to ward off an assailant and help you dispel the fear and anxiety that comes with being the victim of a violent crime.
If you’re not sure if martial arts are right for you, try working out with some women from our club. You will find yourself gaining the skills and inner strength you need to face challenges inside and outside the classroom. As you build on your skills, you will discover inner strength you never thought you had. You will also learn to release your frustrations and stress in a stimulating environment. By the time class is over, you will feel refreshed rather than frustrated at life’s many problems and concerns.
Kids Jiu Jitsu
Many martial arts schools offer only one or two levels for students. We offer four to make sure that your children will receive appropriate training.
Level One Kids Jiu Jitsu
Level One provides four half-hour classes every single week and caters to the needs of children age 4. These classes are offered on an individual basis and you can schedule them with Coach Adam by contacting him at firstname.lastname@example.org. These basic classes teach young children basic submissions, position control and how to tap and fall.
Parents who are bringing children to classes for the first time can help them make progress by encouraging them at home and speaking candidly with the children’s instructors when the need arises. We also encourage parents to help kids increase their physical stamina by providing healthy meals and snacks for them and cutting back on foods that have a high sugar content.
Level Two Kids Jiu Jitsu
Level Two classes are for children ages 5-7 and are available four times a week. Each class is 50 minutes in length. Level Two classes teach the fundamentals of Jiu Jitsu, wrestling and self-defense.
Level Three Kids Jiu Jitsu
Children ages 8 to 11 can take part in Level Three classes. These classes are open four times a week and are each 55 minutes in length. Level Three classes teach the fundamentals of Jiu Jitsu, wrestling and self-defense.
Level Four Kids Jiu Jitsu
Level Four classes are available four times a week and are open to kids over the age of 11, and teach advanced Jiu Jitsu, wrestling and self-defense techniques.
About Our Leveled Jiu Jitsu Classes
These divisions help kids learn Jiu jitsu in a challenging yet not overly difficult environment. They also keep classes safe and help kids make friends with their classmates. Our levels are age-based but there is a crossover. We allow this because students learn at different paces. We also have a high teacher-to-student ratio so newer students can practice basic moves while advanced students learn advanced moves.
We also offer short, yet highly effective summer camps that will help your kids boost their skills immensely in a short period of time. While there is no specific Jiu jitsu camp, two of our camps teach skills that all Jiu jitsu students need to know. The wrestling classes put an emphasis on learning take down maneuvers related to Jiu jitsu training. The Mixed Martial Arts summer camp is ideal for young Jiu jitsu students who may want to take up mixed martial arts courses in the future. All students ages 7 on up are welcome to sign up for one or even both of these courses as they are held on different days.
It’s worth noting that Jiu Jitsu has been known to help children improve academic performance. Martial arts helps children respect themselves and others, persevere at difficult tasks and work well with teachers and classmates alike. These are all skills that benefit kids in the classroom and later in life. Kids also learn how to manage their emotions in a healthy manner. If your child has ADHD and struggles with academic learning and interpersonal skills, Jiu jitsu can help him or her improve in these areas.
